Olive Tree : More than just a Tree in Palestine

Olive trees hold more than an economic suggestive in the lives of Palestinians. They are symbolic of Palestinians’ attachment to their land.Palestinians are proud of their olive groves. Especially that Palestine has some of the world’s oldest olive trees, dating back to 4,000 years. Some families pass them down for generations and the olive harvest season in October holds a socio-cultural meaning where friends and family come together to harvest their olive trees  while holding in mind that their fore-bearers had looked after the same trees several years ago.
